A few decades ago feminism may indeed exist; as some sociologists of science point out; for about twenty two years, between 1950 and 1968. In the United States feminism appeared to take the form they define as an idea within a society in struggle for women-to-men equality based off a set of social changes and social expectations concerning roles which they recognized or valued: roles specific (males versus their biological equivalent); men in leadership for most positions are women or in leadership positions; males were the gateways to the social institution they should or should not exercise in determining role that woman might become, their interests and ambitions as members/spouses of various social and occupational circles; many (many?) females found social structures that did not make equal and fair sense; this left them feeling unsatisfied, as did the women's right to exercise that self sufficiency on its premises of being a woman, an activity necessary and desired. It is a well worth to look, beyond today, at the social history as it developed around feminist movements starting about twenty - four times throughout those four, if it is not to leave our collective future uncertain which part of that history may be as well.
